A little note

nJoan's Musings

Always amazes me how time flies.  I have finished a couple UFO's.  A kit I bought in Cody, WY several years ago, the nice thing about it is that  I did free motion feathers for the first time on a quilt.  I have practiced them many times, but this was my first try on an actual piece, I am quite pleased with how it turned out and am anxious to use them again.  I also finished a quilt I started in Paula Nadlestern's class a few years ago, it is pretty to look at, however, I am not real happy with the workmanship, the pattern left a lot to be desired. One of the projects I am currently working on is my crazy quilt.  I have the 9 blocks up on my design wall and am trying to decide on sashing, I have several colors of dupioni silk, so have cut 2.5"strips and they are being  auditioned.  I was planning to put the blocks on point, it didn't work out, so I rehung them horizontal and vertically with sashing options.

I am also working on a spirit cloth quilt, all the blocks or pieces are from recycled items, it is becoming a personal diary, as I am embroidering details of daily happenings on the pieces.  The pieces have all been hand sewn.  The inspiration is from Jude Hill's Spirit Cloth, such an interesting site, I took the first on line class and may take another, I enjoy her daily blog.

Knitting socks for Kamryn and Kaleigh, nearly finished.  My next knitting project will be a tam and scarf for myself.

I continue to work on photo shop elements and just recently upgraded to PSE 10.  I continue to go to a small group that meets once a month learning more about the program.  I hope to get a collage worked up before our next meeting.

I have back surgery scheduled for Nov.21st.  Dr.Pettine from Loveland will be doing the procedure.  He will be implanting two Coflex-Fixtures.  Hopefully this will take care of the problem I have dealt with for over 6 years, and I will be ready to go to France again in March.

  1. Oh Joan! I hope you can post pictures sometime of your quilts! They sound divine! I need to find a photoshop class myself. I want to do collage with it too. Maybe there are some online classes. I'll have to look.

Wishing you successful surgery and quick recovery! France should be on everyone's agenda! Happy Holidays! Sue
